POPULARLY WOSHIPPED HINDU GODS & GODESSES

As mentioned earlier, lives of Hindus are saturated with religion, which entails worship of several gods & goddesses and following of several rituals and festivals. Although monotheism is the basic philosophy in Hindusim and remains more on a theoretical level, for practical purposes our sages later developed the manifestation concept.
In line with this concept, God was realized as trimurti, comprising the creator, the preserver and the destroyer in the perpetual cycle of the creation-destruction-recreation of the universe. Also, the idea of avataars (reincarnation) of some of the gods & goddesses appeared on the horizon, as redeemers gave a substantial feeling of comfort to those Hindus who had to face oppression by invaders
and/or cruel rulers.
Although the number of Hindu gods & goddesses is said to be over 330 million, the visual here gives only the commonly popular and eternal gods & goddesses, their hierarchy and some of their avatars. Idea is to avoid scholarly details and ensure clarity in the minds of the ones who wish to reckon details of primary relevance first.
